I've had ingrown toenail surgery done before, why did it come back?

Most ingrown toenail surgery is curative for an acute infection where the border of the nail plate is partially removed to heal the acute skin and skin structure infection.  Like the hair on your head and nails on your fingers these structures continue to grow back after being cut. There are procedures that may be preformed to permanently remove the border of the nail plate to prevent it from growing back.
