Fall is my favorite time of year. Maybe it’s the smell of cinnamon and spice on the crisp morning air, or maybe the beautiful fog rolling over the river driving the 360 bridge in the morning on the way to the office. Well, wait don’t forget the roar of the Longhorns fans in the stadium on game day! I guess I can’t pinpoint just one thing I love about this time of year here in Austin. Did I mention the cooler weather? Don’t get me wrong, I am most definitely a warm weather person, but after a long hot summer the lower temperatures are most definitely a treat. This makes for fantastic running weather too!
Hello everyone! If I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting you yet, my name is Tana I am the Clinical Coordinator for Austin Foot and Ankle Specialists. And what a wonderful opportunity it has been to become part of such a magnificent practice and family. As many of you know, we’ve recently expanded to now offer full body physical therapy and a shoe store as part of our Wellness Center. If you haven’t been to our office in a while, now is the perfect time to stop by.
As many of you may already know, I began a new adventure at the beginning of the summer and got casted for custom orthotics. Through the break in process I learned the importance of listening to the doctor and following instructions. A few times now I’ve earned some pretty gnarly blisters from wearing the wrong shoes and not paying attention to my feet’s cries for help. Although I’ve hit some speed bumps along the way the process has been a lot of fun. Not to mention I am now proudly pain free all the time. I can run, hit the weights, stand at work all day, and go out hiking with the dogs on the weekend and it feels like I’m on air with every step. Before getting casted, a day on the trail meant sore ankles and feet for the next day or two and I was never sure if I’d roll my ankle and be able to keep going or if I’d have to limp my way back to the car.
If you’ve been considering orthotic inserts or just have questions about how to become a stronger, better athlete the time to act is now. Our scheduling coordinator was able to check my private insurance benefits, and I found out that my orthotics are actually covered by my insurance! So that means less of my deductible to meet and less out of pocket for me too! It’s great to know I have such a wonderful team behind me every step of the way.
Call our office today at 512-328-8900 and let our team help you to reach your goals. Maybe you just want to run around the block, or maybe you’re eyeing an upcoming marathon. Whatever your next step is, Dr. Thomajan and Dr. John can help make sure you put your best foot (or feet!) forward.
Until then, keep those feet happy and healthy. Peace. Love. Run.
