NC-stat® | DPNCheck™ is an examination that assesses your nerve health for diabetic peripheral neuropathy
NC-stat® | DPNCheck™
Do you have diabetes?
Our practice recommends the NC-stat® | DPNCheck™ test as an important part of your diabetes examination. DPNCheck™ is an electronic nerve test which delivers a mild electrical pulse at your ankle and measures the nerve signal in your leg. The test is fast and does not involve needles. It will help your doctor determine if diabetes is damaging your nerves.
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is damage primarily to the nerves in your legs and feet. DPN is a common problem for people with diabetes and if left untreated, could lead to pain and foot ulcers which may require amputation in severe cases. Symptoms of DPN may include foot numbness and pain; however there are often no symptoms at all until the nerve has been substantially damaged. That is why early detection is crucial. If caught early, DPN can often be controlled and, in some cases, even improved.
A DPNCheck™ test provides:
- An assessment of your nerve health
- An opportunity for you to discuss the test results with your doctor today
- Results that your doctor can monitor year to year to identify changes in your nerve health
