Will a custom orthotic relieve the pain from a bone spur?

Yes, in most every case a total contact orthotic will help relieve the pain from a bone spur.  Bone spurs are caused by the soft tissue structures that attach to the heel bone being overly stretched and subsequently being pulled away from the heel bone.  This causes both irritation and pain.  In short, by supporting the soft tissue structures of the bottom of the foot, the total contact orthotics stops the excessive stretching and subsequent pulling of the soft tissues from the heel bone which in most cases effectively resolves the pain.
