Meet The Expert
Dr. Ricardo Chica, DPM received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas Pan-American and his medical degree in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. After his graduate education, Dr. Chica continued his education with a three-year residency at Northwell Health-Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY.
Dr. Chica has comprehensive training in all aspects of podiatry; including elective and non-elective foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. His education includes complex trauma of the foot and ankle, ankle and rearfoot arthroscopy, sports medicine of the lower extremity, diabetic limb salvage training, and surgical correction of lower extremity deformities.
Dr. Chica also trained at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center where he focused on both operative and non-operative management of the pediatric foot.
Moreover, Dr. Chica gained extensive expertise in sports medicine while working with the NCAA Division I athletic department at Fordham University.
During his training, he completed the AAFAO Comprehensive and Advanced Courses of Internal Fixation for Reconstructive Surgery and Trauma of the Foot and Ankle, and the International Foot and Ankle Foundation Arthroscopy training with nationally renowned foot and ankle surgeons.
As an active member of the Hispanic community over the years, and a native Spanish speaker himself, Dr. Chica served as a Medical Spanish Instructor and helped develop a medical Spanish book for clinical reference during his podiatry school years.
He has also given numerous lectures to under-served communities about podiatric care and diabetes during his school and residency years.
